HOUSTON – The Houston Texans’ search for a new general manager has ended following a flurry of interviews to start the week.
The choice -- Nick Caserio, a longtime director of player personnel for the New England Patriots. That’s right, they are going back to Patriot country and Bill Belichick’s connections to fill a major role in the organization.

The team officially names Caserio as the new general manager in a news briefing Friday.
Caserio is a name McNair has favored for two years. The Texans pursued Caserio in 2019′s offseason after firing former general manager Brian Gaine, only to be denied permission by the Patriots, who ended up filing a tampering charge.
Now, Caserio, 45, will take over the Texans and help turn the team around from 2020′s disappointing 4-12 season.
His first role begins immediately, joining McNair’s search of a new head coach. Now that Caserio is on board, names surfacing to fill that position include Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady, who interviewed on Tuesday with the Texans.
Caserio has been rising in the ranks with New England for 20 years and held his personnel role for the past 13 seasons. He has also had a stint on the coaching side working for Belichick.
In all, Caserio has been a part of six Super Bowl-winning Patriots teams during his stay in New England.
