Forecast Update: Beta rain bands continue to make for a sloppy afternoon
Moderate to heavy rain bands continue to drench a good chunk of the area as Tropical Storm Beta slowly churns towards Matagorda Bay.
Rainfall totals have been between 1-2" within the bands so aside from some minor ponding, we're able to handle the rain without issues. However, as more bands move inland, we could see some minor flooding later tonight.
Coastal areas continue to see storm surge issues of 2-4 feet above sea level so be careful if you are in a spot affected as roads may be impassable.
As Beta moves inland tonight, more rain bands and heavier pockets will move across the area tomorrow and early Wednesday as the storm finally moves out on Thursday. Another 2-4" of rain is likely inland, up to 5-7" possible along the coast.
Stay safe on the roads tonight!
