It’s unclear how the crash unfolded, but occurred around 9:15 p.m. when police said they were called to W Dallas Street near the Gulf Freeway.
Responding emergency crews asked for additional reinforcements at the scene, where they found an unidentified woman pinned under the vehicle. The woman was rushed to a hospital and last said to have suffered severe injuries to the point where she may not survive.
The driver, meanwhile, has not been identified but our cameras showed one of the police officers at the scene pouring out what appeared to be alcoholic beverages.
Sgt. Rose with HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division later confirmed the unidentified driver was arrested under the suspicion of driving while intoxicated, but additional charges could be pending based on the pedestrian’s condition.
