It’s unclear how the crash unfolded, but HPD Lt. Willkens said just after 10 p.m. investigators found the unidentified individual’s body was separated and strewn across the left eastbound lanes of I-10 and Lockwood Drive.

“Put it this way: I can’t tell you if it’s a male or female as of right now,” he explained. “So pretty graphic.”

CURRENT LOOK AT TRAFFIC CONDITIONS

Several cars hit the person but only one stopped to alert authorities. The roadway was shut down for several hours while police conducted an investigation.

While that was happening, Lt. Willkens said a patrol car was hit by merging vehicles. No officers were hurt in any injuries.
