Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office were called to the crash on East Freeway around midnight when the unidentified driver went down to the feeder road’s embankment before the vehicle flipped into the water.
Sgt. Villacorta with HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the driver was able to get out of the car and pull his passenger as well. The driver then walked about a mile to call 911 and get help, but the unidentified passenger succumbed to their injuries.
CURRENT LOOK AT TRAFFIC CONDITIONS
The driver did not appear intoxicated and passed field sobriety tests, so it’s unclear if road conditions or speed played a factor, but deputies are looking into it as their investigation continues.
