It happened in the Greater Uptown area on South Voss Road but started near Unity Drive and Richmond Avenue where HPD says officers spotted a black Infinity with a stolen license plate from a Chrysler. When they tried pulling over the driver, he turned the car’s lights off and went northbound on Hillcroft Avenue.
From there, a brief chase started, but when the driver turned onto South Voss Road, he lost control of the car and hit a tree, causing it to catch on fire, killing the driver.
At last check, police are treating the incident as an “in-custody death” but have not shared any additional information, as of this writing.
