Texans should be prepared for higher electrical demand and the potential for reduced energy reserves as winter precipitation is expected in parts of the state.
What is an ERCOT Weather Watch?
An ERCOT Weather Watch is an advance alert issued when significant weather conditions are expected to increase electrical demand and potentially lower reserves. While there is no current expectation of an energy emergency, Texans are urged to remain informed and prepared.
Despite the heightened alert, ERCOT has emphasized that grid conditions are expected to remain normal during this period.
The organization is closely monitoring the situation and deploying all available tools to ensure grid reliability, maintaining its commitment to a reliability-first approach.
ERCOT encourages residents to sign up for grid condition notifications through the Texas Advisory and Notification System (TXANS). Real-time and extended grid conditions can also be tracked at ercot.com.
No immediate action is required from residents during this Weather Watch. However, staying informed about grid conditions via ercot.com is recommended.
