HOUSTON – Houston will be dealing with bouts of heavy rain Thursday afternoon.

According to KPRC 2 meteorologists, Houstonians will experience a wet and messy commute on Thursday afternoon, however, Dallas could be dealing with ice and snow.
Energy experts have weighed in on how the weather across the state could impact the grid.

Doug Lewin, an energy expert in Texas, told KPRC 2, that he doesn’t expect any big issues with this system if the current forecast holds.
“These kinds of temperatures don’t lead to levels of demand that are particularly difficult to meet,” he explained. “That would be about ten degrees warmer than last year’s January cold snap, which is sometimes referred to as Winter Storm Heather. 10 degrees warmer than Elliott in 2022 and about 20 to 25 degrees warmer than Winter Storm Uri.”
