Here’s what you need to know about Saturday’s severe storm risk in Houston

Houston stay alert as a cold front may trigger a few severe thunderstorms.

A stalled boundary draping across the country has kept Houston hot, muggy, cloudy, and windy this week. The atmosphere takes it up a notch this weekend, bringing scattered storms on Saturday.

A wave of low pressure will push the stalled boundary, helping move a cold front through Southeast Texas. The cold front, along with ample moisture and warmth, will help trigger storms Saturday afternoon through Saturday night.

Strong to severe storms are likely to form, producing damaging winds, hail, and even tornadic activity.

Houston is 2 out of 5 on the severe risk scale, and areas east of Livingston could see numerous severe storms develop with their risk level at 3 out of 5.

As for rainfall, there may be some heavy pockets of rain. The best chance for flash flooding is east of 45.
