FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – A man is dead after crashing into a tree Tuesday night, while investigators say he was trying to escape gunfire during an apparent road rage incident in Fort Bend County.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. on FM 521 in Fresno, where sheriff’s deputies said two people were involved in an argument that escalated into gunfire.

We’re told the victim, an unidentified man, 31, tried driving away but crashed his vehicle into a tree. Emergency crews rushed him to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

No additional injuries were reported, but deputies are still looking for the other driver as part of their ongoing investigation.
