Fatal 3-vehicle crash causes complete closure on westbound lanes of East Freeway at Beltway 8

HOUSTON – A three-vehicle crash has closed the westbound lanes of the East Freeway at Beltway 8 on Monday afternoon, according to Houston TranStar.

The multi-vehicle crash was reported at 1:22 p.m. on the westbound lanes of IH-10 at Beltway 8-East.

The cause of the crash is unknown. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office confirms at least one person died in the crash.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says it is estimated the roadway will be closed for at least another three hours. All traffic is being diverted to the Dell Dell exit.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
