Man admits to stabbing roommate multiple times, then goes back to work in another room of home

HOUSTON – A man was arrested and charged after admitting he stabbed another man multiple times inside an apartment, then went back to work in another room of the home while the victim suffered and died, according to records.

Richie Harnamji, 64, has been charged with murder in the death of 54-year-old Steven Jarvis.

What happened

Houston police responded to the fatal stabbing of a man at 8222 Kingsbrook Road around 3:55 p.m. on Tuesday.

Responding officers found Jarvis unresponsive on a bed, suffering from multiple stab wounds. The Houston Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.

During questioning, Harnamji reportedly told officers he was the one who called 911. He admitted to stabbing Jarvis multiple times with a knife.

Police said Harnamji also attempted to clean up the crime scene and dispose of the murder weapon while waiting for emergency services to arrive.

He was arrested around 10 p.m. and booked into the Harris County Jail.
