1 dead, another hospitalized after 2 motorcycles lose control on Katy Freeway

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A fatal crash involving two motorcycles has led to the westbound lanes of the Katy Freeway being shut down at Fry Road near Westgreen Blvd.

Lt. Terry Garza with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office posted on X that all main lanes are closed and first responders are on the scene. All traffic is being diverted onto Fry Road.

The Harris County Pct. 5 Constable’s Office released more details on the crash.

According to the constable’s office, three motorcycles were traveling westbound in the HOV lanes of the Katy Freeway passing Greenhouse when two of the motorcycles lost control, causing one of the drivers to fall into the main lanes of the freeway.

The driver was then struck by another vehicle.

The constable’s office says one driver died, another has been taken to a hospital. A third driver remained at the scene and has been speaking to officers.

The constable’s office says it appears that one of the vehicle’s that hit the person who fell into the roadway left the scene without giving information or trying to render aid.
