Concerns about beach closures began after the Galveston County Parks Department discussed the possibility of restricting access to certain areas on the Bolivar Peninsula. However, GCSO clarified that the information circulating was incorrect.

Officials confirmed that county beaches will remain open during Jeep Weekend.

“Our priority is to support the event and ensure that it can proceed as scheduled while maintaining safety and enjoyment for all attendees,” said Sheriff Jimmy Fullen in a statement.
