Conroe ISD kindergarten teacher arrested for online solicitation of a minor

Teacher was arrested just 2 miles away from school where he taught

A kindergarten teacher at a Conroe ISD school has been arrested for allegedly trying to solicit a minor he met online.

Wednesday morning, a letter was sent out a letter to parents, informing them that 39-year-old Brian Schultz, a kindergarten teacher at Snyder Elementary School, was arrested yesterday for online solicitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.

His bond was set at $30,000, according to records.

Montgomery County jail records indicate that Schultz was arrested Tuesday night at 2301 Rayford Road in Spring, an address that appears to be a grocery store that is roughly two miles away from Snyder Elementary.

Witnesses said the arrest happened in the parking lot.

Investigators have not confirmed whether he was communicating with a real underage victim online or if it was an undercover officer.

The district confirmed that the arrest was not related to his work at the school, but the Montgomery County Pct. 3 Constable’s office said any potential victims should contact law enforcement.

Schultz had been employed to teach kindergarten at the school since August of 2021. Court records also indicated that he is married.

In the letter, the district indicated that it is initiating the “necessary personnel process” to terminate Schultz’s employment with Conroe ISD. Synder principal Crystal Poncho also said she is personally contacting the parents of each of the students in his class.

“The alleged actions of this individual do not reflect the professionalism and care exhibited by our Snyder Stallion staff who strive to provide our students with a quality education,” a portion of Poncho’s letter read.

Schultz’s profile has already been removed from the Snyder Elementary online staff directory.

“We have small children that are in his hands every day. And it just it makes you wonder as a parent, is there more to the story?” Nicole Cahill said, who had a daughter in his class. “It’s sad because I just spoke to him yesterday. You have a lot of trust and faith in people that you’re ... giving your child to all day long. And so, of course, you have trust in them. You have faith in them. So when something like this happens, it’s it’s shocking because you don’t see it coming.”

According to Schultz’s Facebook profile, he is a native of Michigan and previously served as the preschool director at Abiding Word Lutheran Church in north Houston.

The Texas Education Agency, which issues teacher licenses in Texas, confirmed to KPRC 2 News on Wednesday that after his arrest, the agency opened an investigation. State records show he’s been a licensed educator in Texas since 2012.

Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact the Montgomery County Pct. 3 Constable’s Office at 281-364-4211.
