Man found shot to death at Sonic restaurant in SW Houston, killer at large

HOUSTON – Authorities in southwest Houston are trying to figure out what led up to a man getting shot several times in front of a Sonic Drive-In Monday night.

Lt. J.P. Horelica with HPD said it happened around 10:45 p.m. when responding officers found an unidentified man in front of the restaurant on Hillcroft near Harwin and Westpark Tollway. He was described as having trouble breathing and suffered several gunshot wounds.

Emergency crews rushed the man to a nearby trauma center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Based on preliminary evidence, Lt. Horelica said it appears the man was crossing the street in front of the Sonic when a gunman fired their weapon from the fast-food spot’s driveway. Shell casings were found at the restaurant but the shooter remains at large.

Police are asking anyone with information that can help them piece together what happened to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
