A Red Flag Warning is in effect until 9 p.m. Saturday, meaning conditions are ripe for wildfires—strong winds, dry air, and low humidity. Even with some rain earlier, the risk remains high, and CenterPoint Energy is stepping up to keep communities safe.

What CenterPoint is doing?

To stay ahead of the danger, CenterPoint says they have been inspecting power lines, adjusting safety settings, and clearing vegetation near equipment. They’ve also put about 1,000 line and tree-trimming workers on standby in case of outages.

Who’s affected?

Residents in Cypress, Fort Bend, and Katy have already been alerted through CenterPoint’s Power Alert Service that temporary outages may be necessary if conditions worsen.

Stay ready

“Even though we saw some rain earlier today, fire conditions are still serious,” said Don Daigler, CenterPoint’s Senior Vice President of Emergency Planning & Response. “Our teams have been working ahead of time to minimize risks and respond quickly if needed.”

What You Can Do

Stay informed and take precautions—avoid activities that could spark a fire, like outdoor grilling or burning debris.
