SUGAR LAND, Texas – In a Sugar Land neighborhood, residents say they face total darkness at night due to a streetlight that has been out for months.
Despite numerous attempts to address the issue, they say the lack of light remains a safety hazard.
Residents have reached out to KPRC 2′s Deven Clarke for help and CenterPoint has made a new promise to resolve the problem.
Residents in the Barrington Place subdivision have been dealing with this issue since November. Despite reporting the problem multiple times, they say they have received no explanation for the outages.
CenterPoint says it did send a crew in January, but the streetlight remains non-functional.
Residents express concerns not only about driving safety but also about crime, as they often need to carry flashlights when walking at night.
Additionally, residents say they have experienced intermittent power outages in their homes for years without any explanation from CenterPoint, leading many to invest in backup generators.
CenterPoint has indicated that the streetlight issue was initially caused by a third-party line cut, but tomorrow we’re told they plan to send a crew to address it and investigate other electrical issues in the neighborhood.
