A dog is expected to make a full recovery after it was captured on video being flung around and kicked by a man in the backyard of a Sugar Land home.
On Feb. 7, Wo Zeng, 34, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty to a non-livestock animal, a third-degree felony.
The arrest stemmed from videos captured and posted to Facebook by a man named Meek Walker, who stuck his phone over a fence from the house next door on Stratford Arms Lane to record Zeng aggressively beating a dog.
“It is unbearable for us to see abuse of any kind of animal and it’s frightening because often if a person finds it easy to abuse an animal, it’s a short step to doing it to a person.” said resident Fred C.
The animal is heard crying loudly as Zeng swings it up against a pile of logs while holding it by its back leg. The man is also seen repeatedly kicking the dog and spraying it in the face with a hose with a jet attachment a mere inch from the dog’s face.
“It’s not fair, that dog didn’t ask for that.” said neighbor Mary Beth Driskell.
KPRC 2′s Rilwan Balogun spoke to the owner of the home Zeng was in on Friday. According to her, Zeng has intellectual disabilities and was having a bad day.
On Saturday, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office confirmed with KPRC 2′s Bill Barajas that the dog seen in the video was removed from the home and evaluated by veterinary personnel. No other dogs were reportedly at the residence.
Two days later, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the dog’s injuries were consistent with the content seen in the video, and it is expected to make a full recovery.
