HOUSTON – Residents in north Houston were left wondering when help would arrive after reporting a water main break in their neighborhood that has been going on since Jan. 26.

“I would say there’s a class for rapid flowing through our neighborhood,” resident Ceran Hunter said.

Hunter, who lives off Goldenrod Street near North Main Street off I-45 South, reached out to the KPRC 2 Help Desk, saying she and several neighbors reported the problem to Houston Public Works, but it had yet to be sealed.

Photos and videos shared with KPRC 2’s Bill Barajas show the overflow of water.

“I think the most frustrating thing, too, is just how Public Works deals with this stuff,” said Hunter. “They come out, they see it, they acknowledge it’s really bad, and then it’s just like, there’s no follow-up, there’s no continuity.”

KPRC 2 reached out to the Houston Public Works Department to ask what was going on, and within an hour, a crew was at the location fixing the issue.

A spokesperson for the department said the leak was already scheduled for repairs on Wednesday.

Hunter said she is just thankful the issue is being solved.

“It’s fantastic,” said Hunter. “This is all we can expect, all we need when we’re putting these tickets in and just looking for a bit of a quicker turnaround time.”
