HOUSTON – Houston Police say a 22-year-old man who was waiting to get a tattoo at a tattoo parlor in the Galleria area was taken to the hospital after a car crashed into the building.
It happened around 4:40 p.m. in the 6200 block of Westheimer.

Lt. Larry Crowson with HPD says an older man was backing his car up in a parking lot. Investigators believe the man “blacked out” or had a medical episode with his foot on the accelerator.
At that point, Crowson said the man’s vehicle went across two parking lots, jumped two curbs, and hit a truck.
Surveillance video shows a man walking next to the truck fly through the air after the car hit him. The man can be seen getting up after being hit. Crowson says he transported himself to a hospital, but was not seriously hurt.
The car kept going and went into a tattoo parlor. Investigators say a 22-year-old man was sitting on the couch in the business waiting to get a tattoo when the car came into the building.
The 22-year-old’s leg was pinned under the car. Crowson said an off-duty officer from another agency saw what was happening and applied a tourniquet to the man’s leg.
Units from the Houston Fire Department arrived and transported the 22-year-old to the hospital in serious condition.
The spot where the car went through the front of Golden Tattoo Studio is now boarded up.
Owner David Cordero described what he heard.
“I was in the back and just heard the noise.” he said. “All of a sudden, you just hear people screaming.”
Cordero said there were about 10 people inside the building when the car came in.
“He hit my client who was sitting in the couch, he had a pretty bad leg injury,” Cordero said.
Fortunately, Cordero said he has talked with the man who was hit and he is now out of the hospital and headed home.
The man whose car went into the building is ok, according to police. Texas DPS will conduct a medical review on the man to see if he will be able to continue to legally drive.
