Authorities say they arrived to find the scaffolding had collapsed. A worker was trapped inside a construction elevator. With assistance from first responders, he was able to get out under his own strength. He was then taken to the hospital.
There was some concern that not all of the workers were accounted for. The Houston Fire Department searched the building and found everyone had been accounted for.
Pieces of concrete also fell from the eighth floor of the building, causing the scaffolding to be mangled.
Main Street between Rusk and Walker will be shut down for quite some time as crews investigate.
