Stolen mail belonging to over 50 people recovered in Sugar Land, 3 arrested

SUGAR LAND, Texas – Authorities in Sugar Land made a shocking discovery in the early Tuesday morning hours when stolen mail, belonging to more than 50 residents, was recovered.

Officials tell KPRC 2′s Bryce Newberry that Sugar Land Police Department officers pulled over a white work truck with an expired registration around 4 a.m. Inside the car were three people: David Bishop, Andrea, Caffro, and Robert Trujillo.

While investigators searched the truck, they found several homemade community mailbox keys as well as a trash bag full of mail belonging to more than 50 residents across Fort Bend County.

All three of the thieves were arrested and charged with mail theft, a third-degree felony charge. Bishop, however, according to court records, was still on federal probation for mail theft in 2019.

He and Trujillo are also facing state jail felony charges due to what police described as “unlawful use of a criminal instrument.”
