The southbound lanes of the North Freeway near Quitman are now reopened after a wrong-way crash early Thursday morning claimed the lives of both drivers involved.

The crash was reported around 2:35 a.m. when a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes collided head-on with another car, according to investigators.

According to Houston police, the driver traveling in the correct direction was a man heading home from work. The wrong-way driver was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when the collision occurred.

KPRC 2 was able to obtain the identities of the two men who were killed from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The victims were identified as 37-year-old Emmanuel Blanco and 31-year-old Broderick West.
