Police investigating man’s death near NRG Stadium as possible hit-and-run

HOUSTON – A man died Tuesday night near NRG Stadium and police are trying to figure out exactly what happened but it’s believed he was run over while he was in the middle of the street.

Houston police said it happened around 11:30 p.m. when they were called to reports of a pedestrian in the roadway on Kirby and Westridge. By the time emergency officials arrived, he died from his injuries.

Based on preliminary evidence, police said the man was lying down in the street when at least one vehicle ran him over. Hit & Run Division officers were asked to follow up to review the surveillance video and see exactly how many cars hit him.

The roadway was closed for several hours until about 3 a.m. while officials investigated the scene.
