’The Evidence Room’ wins two Lone Star Emmy Awards

‘The Evidence Room’ brings a fresh perspective to the Houston area’s most notorious crimes and convictions, utilizing unprecedented access to evidence stored at the Harris County criminal archives.

The KPRC 2 original docuseries was created to bring awareness to the victims who are a part of tragic crimes in the Houston area. We don’t do this for the awards but getting the recognition is just one way to spread these important stories to more people.

Who could hurt a child? It’s a question that still brings tears to the eyes of our most seasoned law enforcement officials, and a story ‘The Evidence Room’ explores in Baby Grace.

On October 29, 2007, a fisherman found a blue container washed up on an island in Galveston Bay. What he found inside triggered a nationwide outcry and an investigation that took detectives from Galveston to Spring, Texas, then north to the state of Ohio.

A grandmother living across the country recognized the clothing the baby was wearing, and she called law enforcement. This cracked the case and later the heartbreaking details about the child and her final days.

Three people were murdered inside a specialty automotive shop in League City in Nov. 1983. Prosecutors and investigators were shocked by the level of brutality.

“It was just savagery and rage that was going on in that short time period inside that shop,” said Galveston County prosecutor Kevin Petroff.

While it would take 40 years for the case to finally be solved, the killer never left the Houston area.
