HOUSTON – A head-on collision in southeast Houston late Thursday night claimed one driver’s life and sent another to the hospital.

It happened a little after 11 p.m. when the Houston Police Department said a driver going the opposite direction in the westbound lanes of Highway 225 over Goodyear crashed head-on with another vehicle.

The wrong-way driver has only been described as a man in his 20s or 30s who died upon impact before his vehicle caught fire. The other vehicle’s driver was sent to a nearby trauma center, where police said they are expected to survive.
