HOUSTON – As we get ready to celebrate the Easter weekend with family, a storm system will move in, causing a messy and wet weekend for the holiday.
Before you make your travel plans or hide those eggs for the kiddos outside, take a look at the forecast and how it can impact your Easter Sunday.
We’ve been watching the chance for this system to move through the Lone Star state since last weekend. Models have been consistently putting rain chances in our area for Sunday for at least a week.
Right now, we’re looking at a timeframe of a chance of showers during the morning hours of Sunday, and the potential for heavier rain and thunderstorms Sunday afternoon into the evening hours as the cold front pulls south.
The one aspect we are noticing is the uncertainty on exact timing due to inconsistencies in the different weather models. Once we get to Friday, we should have a better idea of timing.
There’s a chance of severe weather for Sunday, but the Storm Prediction Center has shifted that threat to our northeastern communities.
This would include northern Montgomery County, the eastern portions of Madison County and Walker County, and all of San Jacinto County, Polk County, Trinity County, Houston County.
As we get closer to the day, continue to tune in.
The KPRC 2 Meteorologists will fine tune the forecast to keep you updated, so you know how you can prepare for the holiday weekend.
