Will it rain on Easter?

We continue to track a Pacific storm that remains part of a developing weather pattern.

Easter Forecast: Rain Chances and Breezy Conditions Egg-spected

Currently, it’s bringing heavy mountain snow and strong winds to the Sierra Nevada, along with heavy rainfall to parts of coastal and Southern California.

What does this mean for Houston?

The storm is moving eastward as expected, meaning we are at a higher risk for rain in Houston for Easter weekend. We are now looking at a 30–50% chance of scattered showers.

If the storm shifts farther south, Houston could see higher rain probabilities or heavier showers. As we get closer to the weekend, we will be able to refine the forecast’s timing.

Here is the timeline for now to help you plan your Easter activities.

Easter Breakfast:

  • Temperatures: 74–77°F
  • Wind Gusts: Up to 25 mph
  • Details: We’ll watch for a brief chance of showers after 9 AM as we track the Pacific storm’s influence and Gulf moisture. Outdoor Easter egg hunts may be damp. Indoor lunches or covered patios are a solid bet for Easter breakfast.

Easter Lunch

  • Temperatures: 83–85°F
  • Wind Gusts: Up to 30 mph
  • Details: We’ll watch for a higher chance for rain driven by the Pacific storm’s influence and daytime heat, with a possibility of brief, non-severe thunderstorms. Indoor lunches or covered patios are a solid bet for Easter lunch too.

Easter Dinner

  • Temperatures: 77–80°F
  • Wind Gusts: Up to 15 mph
  • Details: Showers start to taper off during the evening, but light rain remains possible. It will still be warm and muggy for dinner. Indoor dining or covered areas are probably still a good idea.
