Here’s the upper level pattern causing Houston’s stretch of sunshine

Houston stays dry and above average

Sunshine and heat have a strong hold on Houston’s forecast.

Check out the next five days’ highs, which are staying above Average, with one day hitting 90!

Consistently above average

The upper-level pattern is what is causing this increase in temperatures.

An upper-level ridge is building across the southwestern United States.

Ridge across southwest and Texas. Trough over the eastern United States.

The ridge is promoting the heat across Texas and the four corners.

The ridge also limits any big storms from reaching the southwest and southcentral.

The opposite is happening to our east. A steep trough brings rain activity and cooler temperatures to the eastern half of the nation.

Cooler east, Hot across the SW.
