A nice evening for Houston Saturday, but changes are on the way for Sunday

Another chance of severe weather north of Houston Sunday. Here’s what you need to know.

Tonight’s Forecast:

HOUSTON – After showers this morning, we were left with a bit of cloud cover during the afternoon from the slow-moving low-pressure system that passed through the other day. As we head into the evening, notice that it’s pretty nice outside.

Cloud cover creeps back in this evening, and with high humidity, some sea fog may form in the overnight and early morning hours. Temperatures remain mild as you wake up Sunday morning.

If you find yourself at the beach this weekend, keep an eye on the water. We’re watching a high risk for rip currents this weekend stretching from Galveston down to Matagorda County. Strong, life-threatening RIP currents in the Gulf this weekend. Remember to not swim against the current - and if you should get into any trouble - escape by swimming in a direction following the shoreline, then at an angle towards the beach.

A Marine Dense Fog Advisory has been issued for this same stretch of the viewing area, as well, until 10 a.m. Sunday.

We’re also watching for another round of thunderstorms, gusty conditions and even hail on Sunday afternoon into the evening for our friends in the Brazos Valley and Piney Woods areas - followed by another weak “cool” front moving through Southeast Texas Sunday early Monday morning.

This does bring us a severe risk for Sunday. San Jacinto County, Polk County, Walker County, Brazos County, Burleson County, Madison County, and portions of Grimes County, Liberty County, Montgomery County, Trinity County, and Houston County are all considered in a 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather Sunday. Northeast Houston County and Trinity County are within a 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather. All modes of severe weather are possible.

We should get back to a relatively quiet pattern next week with highs in the low to mid 80s and a mix of clouds, sun and humidity. There are couple of small chances of rain next week.
