Thursday Evening:
HOUSTON – Take a look at where showers are right now with Storm Tracker 2 Radar.
Rain will remain on and off through Thursday evening with a few thunderstorms
If you are headed to the Astros’ Home Opener rain showers/downpours will likely be around through the end of the game.
The National Weather Service has also issued a Flood Watch in effect for most areas of Southeast Texas including Wharton, Fort Bend County, Jackson, Colorado, and Matagorda County until Friday 7 p.m. Watch for street flooding especially southwest of I-10.
The greater Houston area could pick up 1 -2 inches while areas in the Flood Watch zone could range from 2 to 5 inches with locally higher amounts.
Friday’s Forecast:
Friday before sunrise expect widespread rain and a few embedded thunderstorms.
Expect breaks in activity throughout Friday morning before more rain returns Friday afternoon and evening.
The severe weather risk is 1 out of 5 Friday as embedded thunderstorms have the low potential to produce strong damaging winds and hail. Flooding and ponding on roads will still be the highest impact across SE Texas.
Weekend Forecast:
The main storm system begins to exit Saturday limiting shower chances. Sunday a cold front approaches but we only get the tail end which could produce a shower or two.
Less cloud cover and rain will help temperatures sky rocket back to the 80s through Saturday and Sunday.
10 Day Forecast:
Aside from a soaking end to the work week with Friday’s rain, we should get back to a relatively quiet pattern next week with highs in the low to mid 80s and a mix of clouds and sun.
