STAY WEATHER AWARE: Severe weather planner for Tuesday: What you need to know to stay safe
Wind Advisory:
In addition to the severe weather risk for some parts of our viewing area, we now have a wind advisory through 6 pm Tuesday with SW winds of 15-25 mph and wind gusts of 40 mph. After the morning storms, a strong push of drier air will keep gusty conditions throughout the day. So make sure to secure outdoor objects and take it slow on the roadways because the gusty conditions can create more debris on the roadways.
Fire Weather Warnings:
The wind weather threat has now put areas like El Campo, Columbus, Brenham and parts of College Station under a fire weather watch, since those areas already dry.
This round of thunderstorms isn’t expected to bring a lot of relief, so the dry weather and gusty conditions has trigged a fire weather warning from 11 am to 7 pm on Tuesday.
You’ll want to make sure to avoid open flames, be aware of your activity in areas with dry grass and make sure to discard cigarettes properly.
