Hello Winter, I hear you’re staying the weekend in Houston.

But when are leaving?

Rain chances increase Saturday and Sunday

Today’s Forecast:

HOUSTON – We are tracking a coastal low-pressure area that will bring rain back to SE Texas Saturday through Sunday Afternoon. Saturday morning is still cold, with temperatures hovering in the mid-30s. High temperatures will only reach the mid-to-upper 40s. For context, the average temperature for February is 66 and we are way below that number, but get this, we’ll be in the upper 70s by midweek!

But first, let’s plan your day because it’s going to be cold and rainy. And that goes for the Saturday Mardi Gras Forecast in Galveston too!

Weekend Rain timeline:

We’ve been tracking (light) rain since we went on air at 6 am but we’ll continue to track the chance for thunderstorms from 3 pm to 7 pm, especially south of I-10. But we’ll watch the chance for rain throughout the morning as we start Sunday morning too. Your weather team will show you radar every time we are on tv, to help plan your weekend.

The rain continues overnight into Sunday morning with embedded thunderstorms that can bring heavy downpours and lightning. Thankfully, storms will not produce tornadoes or damaging winds.

Sunday afternoon the rain moves out from west to east. When it is all said and done, areas south of I-10 could pick up more than an inch of rain.

Heaviest rain south of I-10.
10 Day Forecast:

By Monday temperatures climb back to the 70s and stay there all of next week. Next weekend’s Mardi Gras, weather wise, looks much better than this Saturday and Sunday. We have just a few more days of this Arctic cold snap before we get a 180° flip next week and it will feel like spring again. Stay safe from the cold for the next two days.
