Houston’s weekend warm-up fuels chance of strong to severe storms

A low risk for storms Saturday across SE Texas

HOUSTON, Texas – On Saturday, another cold front approaches SE Texas. Temperatures warm to the upper 70s to low 80s. This push of warmth and higher humidity will help fuel storms.

A cold front moves east. Ahead of moisture and warmth pulls in off the Gulf

Light showers will occur ahead of the front in the morning, and by the afternoon, there is a chance for a few strong to severe storms.

The threat for most in SE Texas is one out of five. However, if you live NE of I-45 the threat is two out of five.

If storms develop across SE Texas, they may produce damaging wind gusts. The up-side is the best dynamics for severe weather continues to focus east of Texas, so tornadoes will likely not develop across greater Houston.

Severe risk is low for most of SE Texas

The highest chance for numerous severe storms is well East of Texas, across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Western Alabama, where there is a three out of 5five known enhanced risk level.
