Houston, time to break out the chips and dip for your Super Bowl watch party forecast

Tracking a weekend cold front

Increasing clouds across Houston Sunday

HOUSTON, Texas – Although the Texans aren’t playing at the Super Bowl, we can at least enjoy snacks and the halftime show.

If you are hosting a watch party this weekend, here’s what you need to know:

Saturday and Sunday are above average in the mid-80s, and the humidity is sticking around too.

Staying above average but not breaking records

The biggest change will come along with a weak cold front that will glide across Texas starting Saturday and stall in SE Texas on Sunday.

Cold front begins to move across the state
The cold front stalls north of I-10

As the front stalls Sunday, the party can go on. Expect an increase in cloud cover and a less than 20% chance of an isolated shower.

Temperatures stay warm but clouds increase

Areas north of I-10 could feel slightly cooler, but this will depend on exactly where the front stalls.

The front will remain stalled early in the week, becoming a focal point for showers and storms.

Later in the week, enough energy will push a cold front through, helping cool temperatures back into the 60s.
