Stay Weather Alert: Severe thunderstorms roll through Houston Thursday with risk for strong winds, isolated tornadoes

Thursday’s Forecast:

You’ll have to contend with fog and showers for Thursday morning’s commute. Showers start off light ahead of a cold front that sweeps through in the afternoon and evening.

A cold front will move east Thursday bringing the threat for severe storms.

The cold front will spark strong to severe thunderstorms across SE Texas.

Thursday’s storm timeline:

The worst of the activity starts at 12 PM, and storms will push east through the evening. By 6 PM, storms will continue to fire off east of Harris County, and by 9 PM, all of SE Texas should be clear.

Outside of fog, spotty to scattered showers are likely.
Showers become more widespread and thunderstorms are more likely.
Thunderstorms move east

The storms should not lead to any widespread flooding, but SE Texas may pick up to half an inch of rain.

Sunshine Returns:

After the snow and ice last week and this week’s wet weather, we’re in for some sunshine! We’ve earned it. The sunshine returns on Friday and stays through the weekend. Dry air rushes in behind the cold front, zapping any chances for rain.
