Cool and quiet Saturday:
HOUSTON – If you’re planning to tackle those holiday decorations this weekend, Saturday’s your best bet for outdoor work. The weather will be cooperative, temperatures climb into the lower 70s with light easterly winds. It’ll be mostly cloudy, and you might run into a little drizzle early on, but overall, it’s a great day to get things done.

Severe weather threat Sunday afternoon:
After last week’s tornado outbreak, another severe weather threat is on the horizon. While this system isn’t as intense, it still has enough energy to produce dangerous conditions. The main threats are damaging winds, with the possibility of a tornado or two.
All areas are at risk, but the greatest concern is northeast of Houston, including Huntsville, Conroe, Livingston, and Liberty. Residents in these areas should stay especially alert and prepared.
Timing:
- Houston: Noon–4 PM
- Coastal areas: 3 PM–7 PM
How cold will it get?
Heads up, Houston, our first freeze of the season is coming Monday morning! While it’s not cold enough to burst pipes, it’s definitely a threat to your tropical plants. Be sure to bring them inside or cover them up to keep them safe.
On top of that, we’ll have strong northwest winds between 15-25 mph, giving us wind chills that feel like the teens to 20s. 🥶 Bundle up, this brutally cold weather will stick around through Monday and Tuesday.
Is there any chance of snow?
Getting snow in Houston is no small feat, it requires everything in the atmosphere to line up just right. Temperatures need to be at or near freezing, and low-pressure must be perfectly positioned to generate precipitation.
Our issue with getting snow is the timing of the freezing temperatures and precipitation. It’s not lining up. Our highest chances of precipitation are in the afternoon and night when temperatures are above freezing. I’m not saying it won’t snow but the chances are very small. I think our best opportunity is Thursday morning.
10-day Forecast:
The one thing I want you to notice is how cold are mornings are Monday through Thursday. Every day is at or below freezing. We won’t be below freezing all day, highs climb to the 40s. All of the arctic air moves out next weekend.
