Frist round of rain Saturday afternoon:

Saturday morning is similar to what we’ve been seeing all week. We’ll start the day with overcast skies and temperatures in the lower-70s. This will be the last morning until Thursday of next week where temperatures start in the 70s. Our first round of rain arrives early in the afternoon south of I-10. This looks like a moderate shower with the possibility of a few lightning strikes. This line of rain drifts north through 7:00. Because of the direction and more rain coming from the west, training storms are possible which brings the possibility of street flooding in Southeast Texas.

Timing the cold front:

The front arrives in Houston around 10:00. There are some severe weather parameters being met with this cluster of storms between 7:00 and midnight. This gives us a low threat of severe weather in the form of hail and damaging winds. Because only a few severe ingredients are present with these storms, the threat is low and would be isolated if it occurs. But we do need to be aware strong storms are possible. The timing of the storms could pose problems for the Houston Dynamo games against Austin. The Texas Showdown may be delayed or postponed because of the lightning. Shell Energy Stadium is open with no roof.

Sunday morning:

All the rain moves out overnight Saturday to early Sunday morning. We start the day with overcast skie and temperatures in the 50s! Skie slowly clear throughout the day with most of the day in the 60s. Cooler air with low humidity is with us through Tuesday morning. Enjoy this dry feel. We won’t get too many more days like this as we get closer to summer.
