Mexico begins border security efforts with National Guard

Mexico begins fulfilling its pledge to secure the U.S.-Mexico border, deploying National Guard members to Matamoros. This move comes after President Claudia Sheinbaum’s promise to help stop the flow of drugs into the U.S., which followed President Trump’s threat of a 25% tariff. However, the National Guard will not be detaining individuals from other countries illegally in Mexico.
