HOUSTON - When Logan Tanner got home from his lacrosse game, he went to check the mail. The mailbox was chuck full of letters from college coaches from the programs that have offered the three-star tight end from St. Pius X. The tight end finished with 1,059 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on 43 catches and believes his best attributes is his versatility and route running. The recruiting process has been a "roller coaster" Tanner says and after June 1 he plans on visiting every school that has offered him along with Kansas State, Tennessee, Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and SMU. "Lacrosse translates well because I've learned to use my hips a lot better which helps my route running and blocking," Tanner said.

#BlackUnicorn: El Campo's Owens among best in 2023 recruiting class

When watching Owens tear through an offensive line, you may see flashes of Adrian Peterson's style and power and Barry Sanders' vision. When Owens was just four years old, his father Rueben Owens Sr. placed a football and basketball in front of him. Two years later, Owens got the nickname that is emblazoned in his Twitter profile - #BlackUnicorn. "My father gave me that nickname, because he says I'm a rare breed, a different type of beast," Owens said. Owens slid right into the running back rotation for the Ricebirds, which can be daunting for a freshman being thrust into varsity play.

As Strickland goes through this fall, the recruiting process will be different for the senior than any previous signing class in probably the history of college football. Strickland has put Fort Bend Christian Academy on the map when it comes to the recruiting ranks, especially now getting a Big 10 Conference blue-blood on his radar.

RECRUITING: St.Thomas QB Maddox Kopp verbally commits to University of Houston

HOUSTON - The Elite 11 finalist is heading to the University of Houston. Kopp's final five schools came down to the University of Houston, Ole Miss, Colorado, Tulane and Wyoming. Last season for St. Thomas, Kopp passed for 3,089 yards and 28 touchdowns. Braden, donning a red St. Thomas polo sat just to the left of little brother Maddox and Miller when the decision happened. Miller (2018 Houston Christian graduate) is currently at Northwestern and Anderson (2019 St. Thomas graduate) is at Lamar University, both of whom play basketball.

Katy RB Brandon Campbell to forego senior season, enroll early at USC

HOUSTON - A day after the Pac-12 Conference pushed its 2020 football season to the spring, now so has one of the country's top recruits. Campbell, a four-star running back prospect in the Class of 2021, announced via his Twitter account Wednesday night that he has decided to forego his senior season and instead prepare to early enroll at USC. Campbell played his junior season for Pearland. Prior to his junior year, Campbell spent his freshman season at Mayde Creek and sophomore year at Katy Taylor. So, if the Pac-12 does indeed play a season in the spring, Campbell could see the gridiron then.

RECRUITING: St. Thomas' Kopp releases Top 5, includes University of Houston

HOUSTON - The Elite 11 changed everything for Maddox Kopp. On Wednesday, Kopp narrowed his list to a Top 5 - Houston, Tulane, Wyoming, Colorado and Ole Miss. When asked what he's examining the most in his ultimate decision, Kopp said it all comes down to fit. RECRUITING: Houston Heights' Alvarez verbals to UTEP

HOUSTON - The heartbeat of the Houston Heights women's hoops team is heading to UTEP. "The relationship I have built with the coaches & team over the past several months really made UTEP feel like home," Heights point guard Gracelynn Alvarez, who verbally committed to the Miners on Sunday, said. Alvarez was a key part to Heights posting an impressive 26-9 overall record and going 11-1 in district play last season. In fact, the Alvarez family built their own basketball court from the ground up in their backyard. "I've been playing ball since I was four-years-old and I can honestly say this is my passion," Alvarez said.

RECRUITING: UTEP lands 2021 QB Jakolby Longino from Hightower

Fort Bend Hightower signal-caller Jakolby Longino verbally committed to UTEP earlier this week, which gave the Miners their first verbal commit of the Class of 2021. "Coach Canales is a great coach and he has coached multiple NFL QB's," Longino said. Longino had three offers - Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M and UTEP - when he decided to commit. At the end of the day, the UTEP coaches were up front and honest, which went a long way with Longino. Looking at UTEP's 2020 signing class, the Miners didn't sign a quarterback during that session and Longino is the first 2021 prospect to verbal.

Five-star guard Kaiya Wynn transfers to Foster

HOUSTON - In an instant Foster women's basketball just got a major boost for the 2020-2021 season. On Wednesday, it was reported that Ensworth High School guard Kaiya Wynn would be transferring to Foster High School for her senior season. Wynn is a five-star prospect verbally committed to the University of Tennessee. Last season, Wynn helped guide Ensworth to an undefeated 28-0 mark and helped them win the DII-AA State Championship. The incoming senior joins a Foster women's basketball program that went 23-13 last season and reached the third-round.

RECRUITING: Shadow Creek junior Bre'yon White commits to Oklahoma

The Oklahoma women's basketball coach has now added two 2021 prospects - who are AAU teammates with Cy-Fair Premier - to her committed list with Langham Creek's Kaley Perkins verbally committing on May 2 and most recently Shadow Creek junior Bre'yon White committing over the weekend. White helped lead Shadow Creek to a 32-5 overall record, including going 16-0 in district play, this past season averaging 13 points and eight rebounds per game. Prior to the 2019-2020 season White was ranked by VYPE as the No. The junior is also the first player in Shadow Creek women's basketball history to eclipse the 1,000-point and 1,000-rebound mark. Now, White committing to Oklahoma brings even more eyes to the Shadow Creek program.

BREAKING: North Shore quarterback Dematrius Davis commits to Auburn

HOUSTON - Dematrius Davis is heading to Auburn. The back-to-back state champion quarterback for North Shore verbally committed to Auburn on Sunday morning, bringing an end to his recruiting process. Davis had boiled down his choice to Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech - which he had verbally committed to at one point before. Davis was named the Class 6A Division I State Championship game Offensive MVP for a second-straight year. Davis is rated as a four-star dual-threat quarterback by 24/7 Sports and had a total of 27 offers on his profile.
