A massive fire that tore through a West Houston apartment building Thursday morning likely started from a prohibited barbecue grill on a resident’s balcony, displacing dozens of residents.

Firefighters are battling a large fire at Magnolia Terrace Apartments in West Houston.

HOUSTON – Police said they are trying to figure out what led up to a deadly shooting at an apartment complex in Alief Wednesday. Officers said around 10 p.m. they responded to a report of gunshots and people yelling at the Magnolia Terrace Apartments on Synott Road. According to investigators, they found a man dead in the back of the complex near a dumpster with several gunshot wounds. Police said there is no word yet on any suspect info or arrests.
