Greene died following a police chase in Louisiana in 2019, and his death is now under federal investigation. “This family has been lied to the entire time about what happened,” said civil rights attorney Lee Merritt, who also viewed the footage. Police initially told Greene’s family he had “died on impact” after crashing into a tree, the doctor wrote. Greene’s death, which followed a chase near Monroe over an unspecified traffic violation, was ruled accidental and attributed to cardiac arrest, said Renee Smith, the Union Parish coroner who was not in office when that determination was made. The State Police report refers to Greene crashing into a tree as the “the most harmful event” in the crash.

WOLFE CITY, Texas – A family demanded answers Monday after an unarmed man was shot and killed by a police officer at a convenience store in a small East Texas town. Authorities said as of Tuesday, Wolfe City police officer Shaun Lucas is facing a murder charge in Jonathan Price’s death. The incident happened Saturday in Wolfe City, a town of about 1,500 residents about 70 miles (113 kilometers) northeast of Dallas. Messages left by The Associated Press with the Texas Rangers and the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office, which is assisting in the investigation, were not immediately returned. Junior Price, Jonathan Price's father, was among those who rushed to the scene after hearing of the shooting.

Jonathan Price was fatally shot this weekend and Wolfe City police officer Shaun Lucas has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the 31-year-old's death. Merritt said Price had seen a man assaulting a woman and intervened. When police arrived, Merritt said Price raised his hands and tried to explain what was happening. DPS said Lucas tried to detain Price, who “resisted in a non-threatening posture and began walking away.”Lucas fired a taser at Price, then shot him, DPS said. “The preliminary investigation indicates that the actions of Officer Lucas were not objectionably reasonable,” the agency's statement read.

More than two months passed before Gregory McMichael and his son, Travis McMichael, were arrested on charges of felony murder and aggravated assault. The elder McMichael worked for her as an investigator before retiring a year ago, which required the office to step away from the case.
