HOUSTON - The University Interscholastic League released its guidelines for the beginning of Summer Strength & Conditioning workouts, which is set for June 8. One staff member per 20 students will be the quota during strength and conditioning sessions. During sports specific activities there is a maximum of 15 students per working group outdoors and a max of 10 per group indoors. For the sport specific activities instruction, athletes can participate in that 90 minutes per day but only 60 minutes per day in a single sport Monday through Friday. Examples (including but not limited to):Basketball players may participate in drills, but cannot conduct drills / activities against a defender.

Campos won the 100-meter dash at the Will Taylor Relays, Katy ISD Bubba Fife Relays and the College Station Relays. VYPE: How long have you been running track and how did you get your start? CAMPOS: "I started running track when I was 9-years-old, so a total of seven years. VYPE: What is your favorite thing about running track? Shoutout to my Track Houston girls!"

The Oklahoma women's basketball coach has now added two 2021 prospects - who are AAU teammates with Cy-Fair Premier - to her committed list with Langham Creek's Kaley Perkins verbally committing on May 2 and most recently Shadow Creek junior Bre'yon White committing over the weekend. White helped lead Shadow Creek to a 32-5 overall record, including going 16-0 in district play, this past season averaging 13 points and eight rebounds per game. Prior to the 2019-2020 season White was ranked by VYPE as the No. The junior is also the first player in Shadow Creek women's basketball history to eclipse the 1,000-point and 1,000-rebound mark. Now, White committing to Oklahoma brings even more eyes to the Shadow Creek program.

It's a big off the field loss for Houston high school sports fans this week with the news that Todd Freed's High School Sports Zone show on KUBE-TV has been cancelled due to economic factors stemming from the Coronavirus. Prior to that, Freed founded the ground-breaking High School Sports Live program, which also had a successful decade long run and was the first high school sports show of its kind in Greater Houston. None of what goes on in high school sports would be possible without their sacrifices," he said. Beyond that, the show must go on for the local icon of high school sports broadcasting. Let's hope that high school athletes and fans won't be missing out on Freed for too long either.

The Tigers had gotten their future quarterback in North Shores Dematrius Davis Jr. a two-time state champion signal-caller. That has changed with the arrival of Morris - who, before his college coaching days was a Texas high school football coach for 16 years. VYPE: Guys that Morris has coached in the past, did you look at that? VYPE: Fox Sports Southwest has been running North Shore's last two state title games a lot lately, do you sit there and watch those? Davis: I havent watched either of those games since the day after the state game.

The new Fort Bend Austin volleyball coach also coaches for the Houston Stellars club team - which has already cancelled its summer season - but on Monday could start doing private lessons. Now, the biggest question is, can what club volleyball teams are doing be transferred over to the high school teams? "I think with the right precautions and safety that we're taking into account, I think August 3rd is doable."

HOUSTON - Dematrius Davis is heading to Auburn. The back-to-back state champion quarterback for North Shore verbally committed to Auburn on Sunday morning, bringing an end to his recruiting process. Davis had boiled down his choice to Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech - which he had verbally committed to at one point before. Davis was named the Class 6A Division I State Championship game Offensive MVP for a second-straight year. Davis is rated as a four-star dual-threat quarterback by 24/7 Sports and had a total of 27 offers on his profile.

With all the cancellations around high school sports this spring, one of the things that also was cancelled was spring football. For many programs, like North Shore, that is a right of passage of the East Side of Houston. For many its time to start answering roster questions for the next season and working on fundamentals when they have the time to do it in the spring.
