HOUSTON – The US 290 Corridor has experienced considerable growth. One of those biggest projects is the SH-6/FM-1960 bridge over U.S. 290. The Texas Department of Transportation says their latest estimate puts the completion of the bridge and open to traffic at the end of this year, December 2020. Drivers will still have to experience daily and nightly closures up until the completion of the bridge but will have minimal total closures. The new bridge will allow traffic to travel over Jackrabbit Road, the Union Pacific railroad tracks and of course U.S. 290 and ride straight into FM-1960.

HOUSTON – Two suspects are in custody Tuesday afternoon after Houston police responded to a reported assault and one suspect fled the scene in a car. Police chased the woman through the Katy area for about 25 minutes. A man and woman were at the scene, along with two victims who reported that they’d been pistol-whipped, Lummus said. The man she was with was also taken into custody and faces an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge. Police say when authorities arrived, the male suspect threw the firearm over a fence but authorities have since recovered it.

HOUSTON A child is in critical condition and a teen is facing serious charges after driving while intoxicated and causing a grisly crash, deputies said. The crash happened around 9:22 p.m. Sunday on Highway 6 near Pavilion Point in southwest Harris County, authorities said. Both the mother and child were flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where the child remains in critical condition. He was charged with four counts of intoxication assault and four counts of failure to stop and render aid. If the child dies, one of the assault charges could be upgraded to felony murder because of the childs age.

HOUSTON – A two-vehicle crash ended in flames on Highway 6 past the reservoir south of Clay Road, according to Harris County Constable Precinct 5. Officials said the collision was between a white SUV and a white Nissan at 3998 North Highway 6. The call was reported at 12:30 p.m.Officials said no one was injured in the crash.

FRESNO, Texas – The Fort Bend Independent School District confirms that there has been a bus crash on Tuesday afternoon with kids on board. The bus was taking students home from Lake Olympia Middle School when it was rear-ended by another vehicle on Highway 6 near Teal Bend Blvd, according to FBISD. Two out of the 26 students on the bus were transported to a hospital after complaining of back and neck pain. The bus was not badly damaged. After the two students were transported, the bus continued its route and dropped off the remaining students.
