We are 22,000-square-feet and it’s just we have to protect everybody.”For now, at the Rice Village salon, it’s not a mandate for employees to get the vaccine, but they are strongly encouraging it. We have to protect our clientele and we have to protect our business. AdWe’ve checked with several local businesses and most, for now, said they are strongly encouraging their employees to get vaccinated, but not requiring it at this time. HOUSTON – The man accused of spilling mercury in four separate locations in west Houston and Spring appeared in court Wednesday morning. In court Wednesday, a judge raised Melder’s bond to $150,000 for three charges, including burglary and unlawful disposal of hazardous material. In an exclusive interview with KPRC 2, Melder said he found the mercury at an abandoned lab, and he only knew what it was because it was labeled. “I sold it, but only made 40 bucks off of it.”According to Melder, he admitted to accidentally spilling the mercury on the same day he sold it. HOUSTON – The sixth KPRC2 Houston Habitat for Humanity home is starting to take shape as volunteers from two more corporate partners joined the build Wednesday. Constant hammering is a familiar sound we’ve come to hear in the northeast Houston neighborhood – the sound of progress. On the sixth day during the sixth year of the KPRC2 Houston Habitat Build, volunteers with Village Plumbing & Air and Carpet Giant came to lend their skills. The hard workers in hard hats put up insulation around the 2019 recipient’s future home. Houston Habitat for Humanity tells KPRC2 every dollar that is saved on making it efficient is a dollar the homeowner can put toward her mortgage.

With their hard hats and work gloves on, volunteers with Frontier Utilities and Shipley Do-nuts put in hours of hard work Friday. They installed part of the walls and trusses on the 6th Annual KPRC Houston Habitat Home. Frontier Utilities had been sponsoring the event for three years and it will help the Vessel Family even more. As with any proper build, the 4th annual KPRC Habitat Home kickoff began with a safety brief. Despite some wind and some rain, nail by nail, board by board, walls came together as daylight made its morning appearance. It began at a time when Houston Habitat for Humanity executive director Allison Hay said the need was growing.
