Cy-Fair ISD is allowing parents to send their children back to school or learn from home. “(At) high school and middle school campuses, students are only going to be 3-feet apart not six,” she said. However, on Monday, Freestone and several other educators will be protesting at the Cy-Fair School board meeting.

The annual event was was held virtually this time around in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, according to a release from Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District. Cypress Woods High School seniors Steven Cheng and juniors Zeki Gurbez and junior Alex Haung earned first place in the advanced division of the computer science competition. The competition involves students solving as many programming problems as possible in three hours. More than 100 teams from across the country participated in the 2020 event, according to a release from CFISD.

The organization awarded Cypress Park High School Head Athletic Trainer Alain Dorval, Cypress Lakes High School Head Athletic Trainer Heather Smith and Cypress Falls High School Assistant Athletic Trainer Ross Little with G“HATS” Off Awards. The award recognizes the actions taken by an athletic trainer under unusual circumstances to protect those in his or her care, according to a release from the district. During the district’s 18th annual wrestling invitational in January, Dorval, Smith and Little worked together to help stabilize a student athlete who suffered spinal and neck injuries. “Their actions led to the life of a student-athlete being preserved,” said R. Joseph Hebert, Langham Creek High School head athletic trainer and GHATS honors and awards committee chairman.
