A Texas police officer is “A-OK” after a Christmas tree toppled over on top of him at a school in North Texas.

Lake Creek kept their undefeated season alive with an 8-2 win over Rock Hill and will face the winner of Georgetown and Aledo for the 5A title on Saturday. Take a look at some of the shots from the action.

On Wednesday morning, Aledo's Creed Willems took to social media to announce his decision on his future. After initially signing to play college baseball for TCU, Willems let everyone know his decision to forgo playing for the Horned Frogs and instead take Baltimore's offer on joining the MLB and playing for the Orioles:

The Aledo Bearcats have put in great effort all season and are reaping the rewards as they continue to advance in the UIL Class 5A Region I playoffs. Let's take a look at how they made their way to the Regional Finals.

Aledo's star, JoJo Earle, would receive the Landry Award on Saturday, January 30, during the televised award show. "It's definitely a good way to end my high school career." AdEarle is the second Bearcat to win the prestigious award- the first being Johnathan Gray who won the award back-to-back in both the 2010 and 2011 seasons. In his senior season, Earle finished with 87 carries for 591 yards and 12 touchdowns as well as 61 receptions for 1,007 yards and eight touchdowns. Those numbers allowed the star to finish his high school career at Aledo with over 5,000 yards and 66 touchdowns.

ARLINGTON - Crosby wanted points first and got points first. And when Aledo responded with a long TD throw to Alabama-commit Jojo Earle, Crosby responded again to go up 14-7. From there, it was all Aledo, which used a six-touchdown day from Demarco Roberts - 3rd most all-time in a 5A state title game - to turn a close game after the first quarter into a blowout by halftime. In the end, Aledo cruised to a 56-21 win to secure its state-record 10th title - 3rd straight overall. What you see above is what Roberts did all day to the Crosby defense.

This is Aledo's attempt at a second three-peat in the last 12 seasons- their seventh state title in ten years. Aledo started their reign of championship titles in 1998 where they defeated Cuero by a score of 14-7 in the Class 3A Division I title game. Missing the 2015 title, Aledo pulled ahead in 2016 to edge out Corpus Christi Calallen by a score of 24-16. With the wins over Fort Bend Marshall in 2018 (55-19) and again in 2019 (45-42), Aledo has set the stage hopeful for a second three-peat. Cleaning out the locker, picking up trash, blocking, and tackling… that's what we talk about instead of winning state championships.

Instead of previewing both teams, we'll take the local angle and dig deep into the DFW teams - starting with Aledo in its matchup with Crosby for the 5A Division II State Championship. Ironically enough, this wasn't the strongest Aledo team, and despite being near the top of the 5A DII state rankings all year, there was a consensus that this was the year Aledo's run to state would end. Not the case, and now Aledo is gunning for a state record 10th state championship. In the regular season, Aledo averaged a solid 44 points per game but somewhat struggled to really find an identity on offense. But then the playoffs hit and Aledo has turned it on offensively, relying heavily on the run game during this run.

Aledo hasn't had the defense in year's past, especially the past two that finished out the season as champs. Rider has also played one less game in the playoff run as its Bi-District matchup was forfeited. The key for Rider in this matchup will be containing Aledo's JoJo Earle and Roberts. PICK: Aledo looks to have a few more playmakers than Rider. Aledo is comfortable playing a high-scoring game, probably much more so than Rider.

It was another wild day at Globe Life Park with three differently, interesting games that unfolded. Aledo SurvivesThe talk around the Aledo team is that it was a down year. Denton Ryan and Highland Park. Except the game didn't really meet those loft expectations as Ryan (13-0) won a defensive struggle and kept Highland Park (11-1) under control for 95 percent of the game. Having downed Highland Park and every other challenger, Ryan is two steps away from completing its mission of "State or Bust."

There is quite the bevy of games this week across the DFW high school football landscape. Allen doesn't lose at home and it fended off a couple of tough early-season challengers a year ago in Cedar Hill and Dickinson. 15 Cedar Hill vs. No. Arlington dominated Mansfield last week in a 30-point win but will face quite the test in against Cedar Hill. 1-ranked 5A DI team, Denton Ryan, meets its cross-town rival Denton Guyer, which is ranked No.

It's been a couple days since the games of the 6A and 5A games concluded, so here are some thoughts and insights from the week that was. After losing said receiver and three others, the question was how Locke would fair with an entirely new receiving corps. Locke only passed for 424 yards accounted for five total touchdowns on night against Denton Braswell. In 15 games last year, Locke averaged nearly 300 yards a game and 3.5 touchdowns. Friday's game was just more of the same from Locke, who could be the best junior quarterback in the area.
