SUGAR LAND, Texas – Dilip Desai of Sugar Land is one accomplished man.
Since his retirement at 70, the spry senior has continued to work in real estate and lending while staying active.
“I play table tennis four times a week, I do weight training twice a week, Bollywood dancing once a week, and yoga twice a week,” said Desai, 83.
Desai doesn’t just play table tennis to stay fit; he’s a competitor. In 2011, when Houston hosted the National Senior Games, Desai became a referee in table tennis as a scouting mission to see how good the talent was and if he could compete in the future. The next year, Desai moved from ref to player and has since brought home two silver medals at the senior games.
This year, he was named by Humana as one of ten senior Gamechangers, a national recognition by the title sponsor for seniors that exemplify healthy aging and the ability to stay active.
Desai will travel next month to Des Moines, Iowa, to compete once again at the senior games and has been training rigorously to bring home a medal.
