HOUSTON – Florida State all-conference defensive tackle Joshua Farmer visited the Texans earlier this week, per a league source.

An athletic native of Port Saint Joe, Florida, Farmer has displayed versatility and disruptiveness as an interior force for the Seminoles lining up everywhere from nose tackle to three-technique before declaring for the NFL draft.

Farmer (6-foot-3 1/4, 305 pounds) bench pressed 225 pounds 26 times at the NFL scouting combine and ran the 40-yard dash in 5.11 seconds with an impressive 1.77 10-yard split. He had a 29-inch vertical leap and a 9-4 broad jump.

Farmer recorded four sacks last season and a combined nine sacks and 64 tackles over the past two seasons. He had 1 1/2 sacks against the Florida Gators last season and a big sack against Syracuse, forcing a fumble. He had five sacks in 2023 with seven tackles for losses and two pass deflections.

Farmer played immediately for the Seminoles as a freshman and was named the team’s Defensive Freshman of the Year, recording 15 tackles, six for losses and two sacks.

He briefly entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal early in his college career, before deciding to remain in Tallahassee.

He was named second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference in 2023 and the team’s Most Improved Defensive Player

Last season, he was honorable-mention all-conference and had 32 tackles, eight for losses.

Farmer’s father, Greg, passed away when he was two years old from internal bleeding after having stomach surgery. His mother, Pauline, died when he was 11 from a brain aneurysm.

Farmer is the youngest member of his family with six older siblings.
